Teen mom star loses guardianship of 4-year-old son as ex Andrew Glennon wins court battle


US TV personality Amber Portwood has lost her three-year legal battle with ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon over their child James.

According to court documents obtained by news outlet The Sun, on July 27, an Indiana judge ruled that their four-year-old son would move on with Glennon, who resides in California, granting him full legal and physical custody of the child. .

Although the court returned a verdict in favor of the 38-year-old cinematographer, the judge ordered Glennon to “seek and consider the mother’s opinion before making any major decisions regarding medical treatment, education and religion of the child”.

A source told People the 32-year-old star is “shocked” by the verdict and “considering” options to fight it. Insider said:

“She loves her son more than anything and has always tried to be the best mother for him. She’s not perfect, but it was a really dramatic thing. She continues to go to therapy to improve herself and the did it consistently for three years straight.”

According to Page Six, shortly after the court returned the verdict in favor of Amber Portwood’s ex, Andrew Glennon, she took to her Instagram Live and broke her silence on the matter.

She told her followers that in the midst of it all, she was trying to stay “positive” and would “fight it.” Additionally, the star said she shouldn’t be punished for mistakes made in the “past,” given that she’s been working on herself.

Speaking to E! News, Glennon shared his thoughts on the Indiana court verdict.

“We endured the nightmare. Now we can live the dream.”

Additionally, the court ordered Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon to undergo drug testing for the next six months. The custody agreement also stated that Portwood would be allowed to have late-night visits with James, as she had not previously been allowed to.

The former duo’s court battle began in July 2019 when Portwood was charged with criminal recklessness with weapons and two domestic battery charges after he assaulted Glennon while holding their four-year-old son.

Three months later, Amber Portwood was asked to attend parenting classes and was placed on probation for 906 days after pleading guilty to intimidation and domestic assault.

The former couple started dating in 2017 and gave birth to their son, James, a year later in May.

However, James is not Amber Portwood’s only child. She is also the mother of a 13-year-old daughter, Leah Leann, whom she welcomed with her ex-partner Gary Shirley.
