Michelle Branch files for child support and custody in divorce case


Michelle Branch broke up with her husband three years ago.

The singer, who rose to fame in the early 2000s, officially filed for divorce from her husband, Patrick Carney.

The Black Keys drummer allegedly cheated on the singer after she gave birth to their second child.

the explosion obtained legal documents outlining the terms of their divorce in a Tennessee court.

Branch cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.

According to the legal documents, “The wife declares that such irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties that the parties are no longer able to resume their marital relationship and live together as husband and wife and, therefore, the wife asks the court an absolute divorce.”

Branch anticipates that she and her soon-to-be ex-husband will enter into a “dissolution of marriage agreement regarding their marital estate and an agreed-upon permanent parenting plan for the care and custody of their minor children.”

As mentioned earlier, the former couple share two young children, Rhys James Carney and Willie Jacquet Carney.

The “Everywhere” singer is asking the famous drummer to pay child support, legal fees and she wants custody of their children. It will allow Carney to spend time with the children.

The separated couple will have to complete a parent court, which is required in all cases outside of that particular court.

the explosion previously reported that Branch was arrested after slapping Carney due to alleged infidelity.

On Thursday, August 11, cops were called to their Nashville, TN. house for a possible domestic disturbance. The “Everywhere” singer admitted to slapping Carney “once or twice.”

The domestic disruption came after she accused him of cheating, which she tweeted about on Twitter.

She posted a tweet accusing him of cheating on her while she was home with their six-month-old baby; however, within an hour of posting the tweet, she deleted it.

When police arrived at their home, Carney had no visible injuries and Branch was taken into custody.

She was released early on $1,000.00 bond as she is breastfeeding their six-month-old daughter.


TMZ broke the news of the split with Branch, telling the outlet, “To say I’m totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel about myself and my family.” The rug has been completely pulled out from under me and now I have to figure out how to move forward. With such young children, I ask for privacy and kindness.

Over the weekend, the singer released a slew of throwback photos in honor of her debut studio album, “The Spirit Room.”

She captioned the photo carousel: “The Spirit Room came out 21 years ago today. ✨ You are legally allowed to drink and listen to it now. Oh the things I could say to this girl I’m overwhelmed with support 💙.”

“100% support,” someone commented.
