Jon Gosselin and ex-wife Kate Gosselin have been at odds for years — most recently over money — but there are apparently two sides to their child support stories.
A lawyer for Kate, 47, claimed We Weekly earlier this month Jon, 45, “clearly owes her $132,875 in child support, not including interest,” but a source close to the DJ says otherwise. “It’s a complete fabrication,” the insider exclusively shared. We.
The former couple share eight children: twins Mady and Cara, both 21, and sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah and Aaden, all 18. Kate filed for divorce in June 2009 after 10 years of marriage, and the former nurse was granted full legal custody of the duo’s children. However, Hannah and Collin moved in with their dad in 2018.
“Jon doesn’t owe Kate money for child support,” the source claims, saying Kate was instead ordered “to pay Jon child support for Hannah and Collin’s senior year of high school.”
According to the insider, “There is evidence in legal documents from June 2018 that shows the Pennsylvania Superior Court overturned Kate’s appeal to have Jon pay her $132,000. never owe him any money.
Earlier this month, the Jon & Kate More 8 The alumni drama made headlines when Jon slammed the Philadelphia native, who he said had been living off their children’s money for years. “It’s disgusting and it’s morally wrong,” he said in an interview with The sun. ‘Parents are not supposed to withdraw money from these accounts without permission and without writing up paperwork saying they will pay it back – but she has produced no paperwork and no payment has been made. You can’t just live off your children’s money.
The couple therapy alum opened up about her 2019 custody dispute with Kate, during which she admitted to borrowing money from her children’s trust fund to cover living expenses. As the records of their court battle were sealed, Kate confessed in documents seen by The sun that she made two withdrawals of $50,000 to “survive” and pay her daily expenses.
“It disgusts me. She’s been on TV telling the world she saved her kids’ money when she was actually stealing from them – she’s a hypocrite,” Jon told the outlet. “There was no remorse on his part. Now they are 18 [and] she thinks she can get away with it.
In response to the financial claims, Kate’s attorney, Richard J. Puleo, said We“Kate’s integrity is impeccable. I can’t say the same for Jon Gosselin.
The first source, however, doubles down on Jon’s claims. “Kate stole large sums of money from her children and Jon revealed the details in the hope that Kate would have some conscience and return the money to the children,” the insider said. We, saying it was “not surprising that Kate never” repaid the funds. “Jon has only ever tried to make sure his children have a normal childhood and at least get the money they earned from staying on TV for their mother Kate.”
