Howard County Executive Ball seeks members for Adult Public Guardianship Review Board


Comprised of 11 members appointed for three-year terms, the Board consists of two lay members, a psychiatrist, a representative from the County Commission on Aging, a professional disability worker, a lawyer, a nurse authorized person, a person with a physical disability, a representative of a local non-profit service association and a local service representative. Board members provide impartial oversight of the care and services provided to persons under public guardianship and are responsible for making recommendations to the court as to whether public guardianship should be continued, modified or terminated.

To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Howard County and serve in one of the categories listed above or serve in the Howard County community in one of these roles, and be able to attend board meetings, which are held quarterly on the first Thursday. of February, May, August and November.

Names of eligible nominees will be submitted to the Executive of the county for appointment, then to the county. Council for confirmation.
