Gary Owen Responds to His Wife’s Alimony Accusations: ‘We Have Adults’

Owen and Kenya Duke have been married since 2003

Despite what his ex-wife says, Gary Owen wants to let it be known that he is a devoted father.

In a recent interview on The Wendy Williams Show, the comedian responded to his wife’s claims that he was a “deadbeat” father. When the host wendy williams asked Owen about his relationship with his children, he clarified saying, “we have adults”.

He added: “No, for real, because it’s come out that I’m a deadbeat dad, but our kids are adults.

Owen said his lawyer advised him to keep a low profile on the matter, but he added, “My lawyer doesn’t want me to say anything.” Owen continued, “We have a lot of legal stuff that we have to go through. But I will say there is a big twist in my divorce that a lot of people are unaware of. It’s a doozy, but I can’t talk about it yet. But it’s big. It changed the whole dynamic of divorce.

As leGrio previously reported, Owen and Duke of Kenya have been married since 2003 and share two adult children. In March, Duke filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Duke recently took to Instagram to call out her for her lack of parenthood.

“You no longer support us since April 1st. Nothing, nada, zero no electric, water, gas, no insurance (medical, dental, life, car, house, etc.), no groceries, no home maintenance, no gas or car maintenance, no turntable la card I got for us (because you wanted one) and you couldn’t get one (on your own), not the cell phone you had for 23 years; instead you just got another phone number and didn’t pay the bill,” she wrote in the caption.

“All of our bills are attached to my SSN and credit. You paid the $4500 mortgage that is attached to your SSN and credit (for the 1st time) but that’s it. You haven’t Seen your daughter for over 6 and a half months, you haven’t seen your son for over 4 months. It’s your choice. You remember us, don’t you???? I “suppose “that we were helpful when your content was needed.”

leGrio also reported that despite speculation, the couple’s official reasons for splitting remain unclear. But the documents obtained by TMZ would show that Duke is now asking for $44,000 a month in support.

She claims the amount she is claiming is equivalent to what Owen would normally deposit into her account for bills, living expenses and other miscellaneous necessities.

She also notes that she was tasked with giving up her own fledgling career in order to support her husband’s dreams of stardom, so he is directly responsible for why she cannot cover her own expenses.

She then claims that her ex-husband’s monthly income usually hovers between $200,000 and $400,000 and never dropped below $100,000 a month, even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the documents, Duke said it was common for his wife to accumulate uncashed checks ranging from $300,000 to $600,000 and that because of his wealth he was never in a hurry to deposit them into her accounts. .
