A convoy of truckers stretches across Alaska

The Freedom Convoy in support of the Canadian truckers’ anti-warrant convoy spreads across Alaska. Drivers should expect Sunday to encounter long convoys of trucks and cars in many communities, including:

  • The Mat-Su convoy to Anchorage starts at 11 a.m.
  • Anchor convoy to Eagle River begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Eagle River post-convoy event begins at 3 p.m.
  • The Kenai convoy starts at 1:30 p.m.
  • Inside Convoy with Potluck and BBQ Starts at 3:00 p.m.

MAT-SU VALLEY:
Sunday, February 6 6:11 a.m. – Depart from Trunk Road Park ‘n Ride
and travel to Anchorage to meet the Anchorage Convoy at Cabela’s
Rally route: From Trunk Road Park ‘n Ride, head south (inbound) to Anchorage, left on C St., left on 100th, then take the second right and continue to Cabela’s. Convoy information from Anchorage to Eagle River can be found at the bottom of this page.

KENAI PENINSULA:
Sunday February 6

1:30 p.m. – Departure from Kenai Walmart (10096 Kenai Spur Highway)

INLAND (Delta, Healy and surrounding communities to Fairbanks):
Sunday February 6
3 p.m. – Join the Carlson Center or along the road to the second meeting point at the Safeway car park at the North Pole; the convoy route is from the Carlson Center to the North Pole Mall:

Exit the Carlson Center on Airport Way going SOUTH on Wilber Street;
Turn right on Airport Way heading WEST past Pioneer Park to Peger Road;
Turn right on Peger Road heading NORTH to Johansen Highway;
Take the slip road onto the Johansen Hwy EAST towards the Steese Hwy;
Turn right on Steese Hwy going SOUTH towards the North Pole to the Santa Clause exit;

Allow extra time, depending on attendance, it can be slow, organizers said. The group says its best estimate is that the convoy will leave the Carlson Center around 4 p.m.
